Explanation of Skill Build:

There isn’t much room for creativity with the Lifestealer, and the only thing I disagree with diaz_leon about is his mixing of the levelling of Anabolic Frenzy and Poison Sting. While I agree that at least 1 level of Poison Sting early is important so that you can slow Heroes down for your allies to catch, I prefer to take Anabolic Frenzy to Level 4 before coming back to level Poison Sting again. The reason is that the extra movement speed from Anabolic Frenzy will increase the survivability of N’aix, a key early game problem, while Poison Sting will not.

N’aix The Lifstealer Strategy

Early Game
Long Lane – Scourge Top Lane or Sentinel Bottom Lane

This is the recommended lane. Here is where N’aix can play it safe. Simply because N’aix is near the allied tower to protect him from other sources. Let the tower attack the enemy creeps so that you can last-hit them easily. If you get harassed A LOT while in this lane, you can always pull neutrals to your creeps to force the enemies to your tower, or ask your lane buddy to pull for you so you can last-hit.

Short Lane – Scourge Bottom Lane or Sentinel Top Lane

Here is the “Danger Zone” for laning. Basically because you are near the enemies’ tower, making last hitting difficult. Here is where denying creeps is crucial to your survival. Try to deny all your creeps without getting in range of their tower OR them. If you think they’ll have a chance of killing you then don’t try to last-hit that creep. Of course the enemy team will feel confident about themselves and start harassing you so you can’t farm or last-hit. Also, here is where your prone to being ganked, simply because you are in enemy territory. Map awareness is key to surviving in this lane.

Middle Lane

Simply put, N’AIX NEVER TAKES MID. Only for specific reasons. If you do somehow take the middle lane, then a Bottle may help you lane better because you are prone to harassment, especially with heroes like SF. Although you can probably kill some mid heroes because of their low life but you must always be sure of your opponent’s skills and mana. Again, try last-hitting the enemy creeps so that you can buy the needed items for you. But try denying more than last-hitting to force your opponent to come near your tower, for easy last-hits. Also, take advantage of who your tower is attacking. If your opponent gets too close and your tower starts attacking him then try to kill him. If you think he has some kind of escape mechanism then dont waste your skills on him, just try your best to deal as much damage to him as possible.

Jungle

Start with the small creep camps on lower levels, then work your way up to the bigger creep camps as you gain level. Although because of Feast, you can kill some of the big creep camps, like the Centaurs and the Dark Trolls. Avoid the Furbolgs though, they are too tough on early levels. As a N’aix, jungler, you should be able to farm more for your items. If you are low on health, try to go to the big creep camps and just attack the one with the most health. Centaurs are your best victims if you need life, simply because they have low attack damage and high health. Furbolgs are the ones you should avoid because of their high damage. If you are confident that your allies can gank anywhere in their lane with you then gank them. But let them initiate the gank before you go in.

Some notes:

If you feel that you and your lane buddy can’t handle the situation within your lane, then try to call for a gank or ask to switch lanes with somebody.

Mid Game
Mid Game Phase:

This is where ganking and pushing is essential to winning the game. Basically, each hero doesn’t have that much strong items in their disposal. They only depend on their skills for survival.

Items:

Before you reach Level 15, you should have at least Power Treads, a Magic Stick and the Armlet of Mordiggian or Cranium Basher but Armlet is more recommended than Basher since you dont have enough attack speed to make the most of it. If you have been a good N’aix, you should have at least Armlet and some components of Basher. Continue farming for your Basher and other Core items. NEVER buy Hyperstone after Treads. Your attack speed is useless if your squishy and/or you can’t even attack your opponent, even with your insane damage. Also, always have a nice TP scroll at your disposal.

Ganking vs Farming

As a future carry, N’aix should, but not always, participate in ganks. Your 80% slow is useful, and so does the life steal it gives. Plus the gold you receive in participating ganks helps you farm for your core items better. As I said above, you should not always participate in ganks. Only participate if you are near the gank or when your team calls you. If you believe that they can handle it then don’t go and just farm for your core. If you somehow participate in the gank, then try to ask your allies to give you at least 1 kill, for the gold and experience, and of course, game rep. Farming for items is better than always participating in ganks. Another good strategy though is pushing, while your allies are ganking enemy heroes. This will help a lot by destroying the enemies’ defenses, farming for your core and giving you and your allies free gold for the arrival of late-game as in late-game, pushing will become harder because the enemy team will have better items.

Late Game

Late Game Phase:

This is where mass pushes and mass teamfights happen often. Since almost each hero has their core items, they have the power to turn every teamfight around. As your team’s semi-tank carry, you SHOULD always participate in every big teamfight.

Items:

You’ve probably chosen your set of items for the game, By the time you reach Level 25, you should have some/all your core items ready.

Here is the recommended item set for N’aix. These items help N’aix play his role as a semi-tank carry. Treads for his Strength and movement speed. Armlet for the HP and damage boost in team fights. Desolator for more damage output and Cuirass for all your armor and attack speed needs. The TP scroll can be replaced by another item. A recommended item would be Heart of Tarrasque, to increase your tanking capabilities.

Pushing:

This is a non-recommended substitute strategy during late-game phase. Basically what you do is avoid teamfights. You only do this if you and your allies are confident that they can win a team fight without you. What you do is let your allies do a mass push on one lane, while you are on a seperate lane, farming or jungling, basically hiding from sight. Of course the enemy team will try to defend their lane that is being pushed by 4 heroes. If you see almost all your enemy heroes trying to defend their lane then you go to your lane and push. If your confidence on your allies worked, then you should be able to push 2 lanes easily.
